What was your first job?
I have two memories of making my own money:
In elementary school, a leaf-raking business with two of my sisters. We were done with entrepreneurship after just a few yards; as my grandmother would say, “the money was burning a whole through our pockets”.
Then as a teenager I accepted my first job at a popular pizza restaurant where I worked with two of my closest friends. We spent our shifts folding boxes, cracking jokes, and eating a lot of pizza. 1 That job taught me two important lessons about money: you’re working for money so ask about it and hold on to your paycheck or watch it fly away on the interstate.2
Money is all around us: new jobs, layoffs, weddings, divorce, new business ventures, and scams. And whether it’s financial gain(or loss), money is the motivation for a lot of the content around us.
If you’re new here, every month I hand-select content based on a theme.
So, for this month let’s get to the money.
