In July’s content curation post, I shared some summer favorites—braids in the summer time is a memory that stays with me.
Today is hair wash day.
Though the “to do list” is continuously growing (like catching up on some Substack reads), I’m committed to the whole hair washing process. It seems like I have a lot to do, but I’m teaching myself to slow down.
For hair day, I’m continuing and creating rituals to be passed down: hot oil treatments, soothing spa music, lavender aroma therapy, deep conditioning, snacks to eat, and movies to watch while styling. 1
So, here we are. I look forward to reading and sharing with you here at The Cottage.

Hair wash day can be a whole thing. As of 7:12 pm I have yet to finish my intended style and decided to grab wine with a friend (grabs hat and hoop earrings)
