Laughter, Gifts, and New Reads
Adults who play and recommended reads for you to discover something new.
When was the last time you laughed?
Do you remember how it made you feel? Was it the kind of laugh that rocked your body from front-to-back or side-to-side? Or did your eyes fill with warm awakened tears? Were you alone, out with friends, or in company of someone you love?
For most of us, we reach some moment in adulthood where everything is serious. We constantly check our clocks and emails, and the highlight of the day is when we’re scrolling our phone—a second to enjoy the quiet.
What if we explore more of what awakens us, or sought out new adventures that allow us to play, laugh, and be free.
Without judgement, or worry, how would free yourself to be?
Would you wear the special dress in your closet? Would you allow your paintbrush to freely dance on a blank canvas? Will you take that Saturday drive to see a missed friend? Would you simply say “yes” to an evening of dessert and reading?
What if we allowed the ordinary, even amidst our own struggles, to be an opportunity to be delighted by life?
What if you exhaled your worries far away up to the clouds, even for just a moment?
What would that look like for you?
Good Reads (Because Even The Shorter Ones Are Needed)
Here are 2 links I’ve recently saved and read:
“2023: The Year of Laundry and...Anger?” from Momlife Comics
We all have a problem—and it’s laundry; unless you treated yourself to a laundry service for 2024. Read Mary’s autobiographical comics—a diary of frustrations of a wife and mom.
“Unfolding” from Words, As Fruit
I’ve shared the words of Eniafe before, and again, this one is worth a read. It’s a pondering of emotions in a love letter to the new year.
She writes,
“Today, tomorrow and everyday after, my assignment is to savor this gift of time, to sit with, and in it. Both the comforting and uncomfortable, I do not want to spend anymore time trying to find or know all the answers, or posturing as if I have them. Instead, I want to live out the questions.”

Did You Know This?
Reasonable Doubt, formerly filmed in L.A, moved production to Atlanta this year. Was it the Georgia film tax credit that helped to relocate this Hulu series?
